Lien Certificate
Any property being sold in the Town of Ellendale is required to have a lien certificate completed. A lien certificate protects both the buyer of the property and the Town by certifying any amounts owed to the Town by the seller prior to settlement. These amounts may include outstanding property taxes, fees, and other liens placed against the property. To request a lien certificate, please have the settlement attorney fill out the form found here and submit it a minimum of ten days in advance to the Town Clerk’s office. Once completed, a lien certificate will be sent to the applying settlement attorney. Monies owed to the Town, including the $35.00 lien certificate fee, should be collected by the attorney at settlement and forwarded to the Town of Ellendale.
