Family Fun Day

The Annual Ellendale Family Fun Day was held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Willow Street and in the Town Park. Despite the weather being cloudy and drizzly at moments, (and in Delaware we know it could have been worse), we had a nice turnout of visitors throughout the day. There were local craft vendors, Informational Tables consisting of First State Community Action Agency, Patrick Smith campaigning for the position of District 36 State Representative, Ellendale United Methodist Church, DAR DE Animal Response, and the Ellendale Volunteer Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary with homemade goodies and selling their current Yeti Cooler raffle tickets. The EVFD had an ambulance on site for any that wanted to explore. Local businesses: CPR Delmarva gave CPR demonstrations while Prioritize YOU Travel offered tailor-made travel adventures. There were Food Trucks available: Bobbie Chuckie’s Vending, Taco Jardin, Rika’s Ice Cream and DelMarVa Popcorn. New this year we had the Beebe Mobile Health Unit available with health screenings. The Kidz Zone returned with fun, crafts and FREE activities for children of all ages and Police Chief Bruce Von Goerres gave out FREE Backpacks with school supplies to all school age children in attendance and held a FREE raffle for all participants with prizes being restaurant gift cards, a refurbished 5 speed bicycle, color changing cups and koozies filled with candy and Dairy Queen gift cards.  Also, returning this year was the DelDOT Bike and Ped Safety Station with free backpacks and safety items for biking and walking.  DJ Bryan Pingue was spinning tunes and making announcements, and there was some spontaneous dancing throughout the day.

This event would not have happened without support from these sponsors: Anna & Tom Panas, Applebee’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cedar Creek Crossing, Community Bank, Dairy Queen-Milford, Dolce Bakery, Food Lion, Fred Wittig, Irish Eye’s, Jamie Webb, Karen Emory Brittingham, La Hacienda Restaurant, Redner’s, Ryan Homes-Captains Way Community, Shirley Bradley, Surf & Turf Restaurant, The Palace, Tony & Terrie Ottomano and Virginia Weller. We thank all of our sponsors for their support and generosity.

Thanks to the Ellendale Town Council and staff for their support and volunteer hours and to the 23 volunteer residents who helped fill the backpacks and work the day of the event with set-up, running stations and clean-up. It was a great day of fun, fellowship and families celebrating the town of Ellendale!
